Nokia recalls Lumia 2520 tablet chargers, danger of electric shock

Nokia has sent out a warning notice to its Lumia 2520 tablet users as the chargers may be faulty and could cause electric shock.

30,000 chargers have been identified as hazardous to users in Europe including the UK. This also includes 600 travel chargers sold in the US. Nokia has advised all Lumia 2520 owners to stop using the chargers immediately.

The AC-300 chargers, which Nokia is keen to point out were made by a third-party supplier, can lose their covers exposing wires that may cause electric shock.

"While there have been no confirmed consumer incidents related to this potential quality issue, product quality and safety are top priorities at Nokia," said Jo Harlow, EVP smart devices. "We apologise to the owners of the Lumia 2520, and we are working with urgency to minimize the inconvenience."

Whether that means users are supposed to return their 2520s for a refund, or wait to be sent a new charger isn't clear. We've contact Nokia to find out and were told users can keep track of the situation at nokia.com/gb-en/2520-charger/.
