North Carolina's Cape Fear River Rises to Over 60 Feet

The Cape Fear River in Fayetteville, North Carolina, crested more than 25 feet above flood level early Wednesday, September 19. Authorities warned it wouldn’t drop below its 35 foot flood stage until Saturday.

The river hit 61.4 feet early Wednesday morning. Residents in Harnett and Cumberland Counties have been watching the rising river since Hurricane Florence swept through last week. The Little River, on the line between the two counties, is also well above flood stage.
