The Northern Lights are set to make another stunning appearance again tonight (May 11). The BBC reported this morning (May 10) that we could see a repeat of the spectacular light show that bathed the whole of the UK in incredible light.

Ribbons of pink, purple, blue and green lights danced across the dark night sky last night as people grabbed their mobile phones to capture the rare moment. The Met Office has confirmed that last night (May 10) was the first Extreme Geomagnetic Storm since 2003.

For those who missed the incredible scenes last night, there could bee a chance to see the lights tonight. It has been reported that it is likely that the Northern Lights will be visible again tonight but on a reduced scale.

Krista Hammond, the Met Office’s space weather manager, said: “Aurora visibility may persist through Saturday night, but as it stands this is likely to be less widespread than on Friday night with northern parts of the UK most likely to continue to have the best viewing potential.”

No exact times have been given as yet but the best time to spot the Northern Lights has tended to be between 10pm and 2am.

Many saw the lights across Coventry and Warwickshire from 11pm last night, with some left stunned that they saw the famed lightshow from their back gardens.
