Northumberland Plate Day after party confirmed in Newcastle with free bus from the Racecourse

If you've ever done a Plate Day before you'll know that, as well as it being as an early start, the festivities do have a habit of going on well after the lace race.

Thousands of people will descend on Newcastle Racecourse on June 29 for the Plate, with it being the main event of the Festival, which got going on Thursday, Plate Day is one of those events that sees Geordie lads and lasses dress to impress year after year and this year will be no different, especially with the promise of some decent weather.

The sunshine that the North East has been blessed with for the last few days sadly doesn't look like being around as much as we head into the weekend, but there is also no predictions for any rain, so we can safely say you can leave your umbrellas at home!

Just like Ladies Day, which will be a massive draw this time next month, Plate Day is a great excuse to get your best suit or frock on to have a flutter and enjoy a great day out with friends, family or work colleagues. The Plate Day dress code has been confirmed by the Raceourse, as well as food and drink rules and the good news is that, there's the added bonus of live entertainment from Hacienda Classical once the racing has finished on Saturday.

And if sun drenched Ibiza anthems gets you in the mood to continue the party back in town, the official Plate Day After Party is happening at Aveika on the Quayside. It's been the location of chose for post-Plate celebrations for a good few years now and will be opening its doors again to racegoers this weekend.

There will be free buses running from the Racecourse in Gosforth to Aveika, meaning you won't have to worry about getting a taxi and entry is also free. If, after a few cocktails in Aveika, you're ready to get your dancing shows on, Livello just up the road is also having an after party into the early hours.
