Northumbria Police issues CCTV appeal after two alleged Bigg Market assaults

Police have released CCTV of man they would like to trace following reports of two assaults in Newcastle's Bigg Market.

Northumbria Police is investigating reports that two men approached another man and a woman in the Bigg Market on April 13 at around 8.30pm.

The police believe that after approaching the man and woman, one of the alleged attackers has punched the man in the face. This caused his lip to bleed. After this, one of the offenders has pushed the woman, but police said she was not injured.

Police said they had carried out a number of enquiries - and now officers have released an image of a man they wish to speak to. He was in the area at the time of the alleged assaults and police believe he could be able to assist with their investigation.

The man, or anyone who knows him, should get in touch with Northumbria Police by sending a private message on social media, visiting the live chat on the force's website or by completing a crime update form. Witnesses can also call 101.

When contacting the police, the public are asked to quote the crime reference numbers 042448N/24 for the assault on the man and 042832M/24 for the assault on the woman.
