Defender Willy Boly has signed a new Nottingham Forest contract after a strong season for the club.

The centre-back was due to become a free agent this summer after penning two-year terms when he joined the Reds in 2022. He has now agreed a one-year deal to keep him at the City Ground until the summer of 2025, with the club holding an option for a second year.

“I’m very happy to extend my stay at the club and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve next season,” Boly said. “The support of the fans has been incredible and I can’t wait to continue playing in front of them.”

Boly played a big part in helping Forest get over the line in their bid to stay up this term. He has become a key player under head coach Nuno Espirito Santo.

“Willy has been an important player for our group, on and off the pitch,” said chief football officer Ross Wilson. “He is a popular figure around the training ground and we are all pleased that his time in Nottingham continues.”

Boly penning fresh terms comes on the back of full-back Ola Aina doing the same. It marks the start of Forest beginning to shape their squad for next season as they prepare for a third successive year in the Premier League.

The Reds activated a one-year extension option in Aina’s contract. His deal now runs until the summer of 2025.

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed centre-back Felipe, midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate and goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey will depart as free agents this summer. The loans of Gio Reyna, Divock Origi, Nuno Tavares, Gonzalo Montiel and Rodrigo Ribeiro have come to an end.

The contracts of Loic Mbe Soh, Scott McKenna and Harry Arter are also due to run out this summer. Forest have not announced the trio will leave, but it is expected they will join the list of players to depart.
