A Nottinghamshire suburb continues to grow as a housebuilder launches a new shared ownership scheme in the area. Platform Home Ownership is advertising 11 three and four-bedroom homes at the Edwalton Fields development.

Edwalton Fields is part of a wider new development built on land bordered by the A52 near Sharphill Woods. The growth of the area in recent years has also included the building of 77 retirement apartments and a new retail park.

The new homes just off Rose Way have been built by Vistry and the shared ownership scheme will allow buyers to purchase a share of their home, paying rent on the remaining amount. Buyers typically purchase between 10% and 75% of the property's full market value.

Prices for a shared ownership home start from £129,000. Most deposits are between 5% and 10% of the share.

Syeda Bhurji, sales consultant at Platform, said: "To have delivered these high-quality homes is hugely rewarding, offering a route onto the property ladder through an affordable homes scheme to those from Edwalton and beyond. With the popularity of shared ownership and the shift towards more rural living since the pandemic, we don't expect these homes to be on the market for too long."
