Yahoo News You can now order Domino's pizza from your Amazon Echo
Domino's has been mastering the art of lazy pizza ordering for a while now. It's made an Xbox One app for console users, a Facebook Messenger bot from which you can demand your dinner, and now this, the company's latest invention: pizza by Alexa.
Voice ordering for Domino's has come to Amazon's Siri-like digital assistant, letting you use devices like the Echo and Echo Dot to summon slices from the ether.
The new skill lets you order a pizza by simply saying, "Alexa, ask Domino's to feed me." Assuming the delivery is arriving from a store trialling GPS delivery tracking, you can also say,"Alexa, ask Domino's where my pizza is," and find out how far away it is to the nearest minute.
You can even spout, "Alexa, ask Domino's to track my order," and she will respond whether it's in the oven, quality control, or ready for collection.
The system requires some setup before you can bark for food at your Amazon Echo, though. First you need to set up an Easy Ordering account at Dominos.co.uk. Then you need to enable Domino's on the Alexa app. And finally, you'll be required to link Domino's with your Alexa account. Phew.
Once THAT'S all done and dusted, you should be ready to order your first pizza, completely hands-free.
"We're always on the look-out for new ways to make our service even easier," says Tony Holdway, sales and marketing director at Domino's. "We've created one-touch, emoji and Facebook Messenger ordering, so it's really about time you can get your pizza without lifting a finger."
In other news, Domino's has commenced trials of a robot delivery service in partnership with a company called Starship Technologies. The same robots are also operating at certain Just Eat outlets in the London area, so your next order of chow mein may arrive on six wheels rather than the traditional two.
