It's barely been a month since Apple revealed the features of its new iPhone and iPad operating system iOS 11 at its big, annual WWDC shindig in California, but for those who just can't wait for it to roll out, you can get your hands on the update right now.

Apple has made the public beta version of the software available to download from its website now, so if you're willing to put up with the inevitable bugs, head that way and you can enjoy the new features nearly three months before everyone else can when the update is expected to drop in September.

Of course, if you're using an iPhone 5, iPad 4 or below, then the update to iOS 11 will mark the end of support for these devices, but if you're the owner of any of the devices released in the last five years, iOS 11 has some exciting things to look forward to, and you can read our guide to the biggest new features right here.

Along with the ability to pay friends through iMessage using the credit or debit cards in your virtual wallet, iOS 11 will also introduce the all-new 'Do Not Disturb While Driving' mode, which will sense when you're travelling in a car and shut off notifications.

Apple's virtual assistant Siri is also getting an upgrade, receiving a more human-sounding male and female voice as well as gaining the capability to say certain English-language phrases in Chinese, French, German, Italian and Spanish.

One of the biggest interface changes, though, is the new-look Control Centre, which you'll now be able to customise with extra widgets and buttons.

If any of that sounds appealing, the public beta software is available to download now. For everyone else, the complete, non-buggy version of the update will follow later this year.
