All the best bits from the NTAs 2018

The 2018 National Television Awards went off with a bang, as the awards show at the O2 Arena, London, welcomed the stars of the smallscreen.

But while everything ran relatively smoothly, that’s not to say there wasn’t the odd stage-crash or super poignant speech to weep over.

Oh, and there were dogs. Lots of them, Cute ones.

The highlights

Blue Planet II’s win for the Impact Award was not only deserved but contained a baby sperm whale anecdote which was a lesson in littering as well as lovely-told tale of saving its life.

When Sir David Attenborough got in front of the mic everyone stopped what they were doing and listened to the living legend’s words of wisdom.

We were briefly reminded about the One Love Manchester gig, after the devastating terrorist attack during an Ariana Grande concert last year. The moment genuinely gave us chills.

Tess Daly’s heartfelt tribute to her late friend and Strictly co-host Sir Bruce Forsyth was truly lovely.

SO MANY DOGGOS. There were almost too many to adore.

They mainly came out to play when Paul O’Grady was about – we can’t for the life of us figure out why…

Forget Sirs David Attenborough and David Jason for a second; this chap below was the show’s MVP. He certainly had the comfiest seat, that’s for sure.

However, this little cutie stole the show (and our hearts)…

Bradley Walsh stage-crashing the This Morning gang’s acceptance speech after they won Best Daytime, which was a bit hilarious…

No one quite knew what he was doing up there, least of all Bradley him!

His looks of bemusement was, shall we say, apparent.

David Walliams accepting his Best TV Judge award – beating fellow host and friend Simon Cowell was memorable. He had some choice words (or sounds) for the music mogul.

It was lovely to see David not letting the success go to his head…

Ant and Dec winning the Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award was lovely – as was his widow, Wilnelia Merced, introducing it. The Geordie lads’ acceptance speech was equally fitting.

Oh, and there was this, ahem, Stranger moment as special guests Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton presented an award.
