Nursery School Children Banned From Playing Outside Because Of Noisy Laughter

Nursery school children have been banned from playing outside after neighbours complained that their laughing was too noisy.

The nursery at Crawley Baptist Church in Crawley, West Sussex, has received complaints from locals that there is “far too much noise” in its garden and that the “giggling and laughing” coming from the play area was annoying.

As a result of the complaints submitted to the council, it has told the nursery school to stop its children from playing outside until an investigation has been completed.

The nursery has a small outside area where children can play and grow fruit and vegetables.

The nursery’s manager, Amanda Kelly, told The Crawley News: “We have been here since 2003 and these are two, three and four-year-olds who are not kicking large footballs at windows.

“They are just small children running around and giggling.

“They are out there for an hour in the morning and up to an hour- and-a-half in the afternoon. It’s not such a great length of time that we’re disturbing anyone.

“You’re always going to get people who are grumpy and don’t like children.”

There are 22 children at the nursery, which received an good report from Ofsted earlier this year.
The report said the nursery “made the most out of the outdoor area to allow children to play”.

The council will make a ruling on the issue later this month.
