Obi-Wan Kenobi star Ewan McGregor has been confirmed to star in new Prime Video crime drama Lodi.

The series is inspired by the true story of a small-town car salesman turned FBI informant.

A synopsis for Lodi reads: “In 1977, a car salesman, Lou (McGregor), goes from ordinary small-town citizen to FBI informant infiltrating the mafia when a key member of organised crime offers to buy his Cadillac dealership.

“Over the next three years, Lou finds his quest for glory tested when he becomes embroiled in the inner workings of the crime family – from fronting a multimillion-dollar operation, to becoming a surrogate son– before procuring the first-ever conviction of an infamous crime boss.”

Variety reports that McGregor will serve as executive producer for the show alongside showrunner Timothy Greenberg. A release date for the project has yet to be confirmed.

McGregor is currently working on Paramount+'s upcoming drama series A Gentleman in Moscow, which is based on Amor Towles' bestselling novel of the same name.

The show, penned by The Last Kingdom writer Ben Vanstone, is set to follow Count Alexander Rostov (McGregor) through the aftermath of the Russian Revolution after being imprisoned for life.

"It's an amazing, wonderful story and I am very excited to get to play such a fabulous role," McGregor said when the casting was confirmed late last year.

It was recently confirmed that there are currently “no plans” to give Disney+’s Obi-Wan Kenobi a second series. However, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy did tell Entertainment Weekly she was reluctant to rule out anything.

“Maybe what we end up doing is something that gets incorporated into some of the other stories we’re doing or eventually a movie,” she added.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is streaming on Disney+. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the entire Skywalker Saga are available on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K now, as well as on Disney+.
