The eyes of the world will all be on Scotland next week and the message is clear from one Hotline caller: "In Steve Clarke we trust."

The Tartan Army are set to take trains, planes and automobiles to join the Euro 2024 party with over 200,000 punters predicted to make the journey to the summer football festival. The squad are currently preparing for the big tournament opener by defeating Gibraltar in Faro with Finland to come on Friday. Fans are getting nervous after the display against the minnows, but Michael Lavery, East Kilbride said: "Steve Clarke is a big game manager. He is preparing the team for the games that really matter. Friendly internationals are only for preparation. Everyone needs to calm down. In Stevie we trust."

William Hutchinson, Aberdeen backed up Michael stating that a win is a win regardless of the opposition and he is ready to roar on the troops when they touch down at the Euros: "I am fed up reading about some Scotland fans already giving up on us in Euros because we didn't win big against Gibraltar. Get real! A win is a win considering we went seven games without one. I will be watching and cheering them on in every game as true Scotland supporter should do. I am sure there's still plenty who still will."

Elsewhere, chat over a potential Odsonne Edouard return to Parkhead sent the internet into meltdown, but Stephen Mulhern, Dumbarton, hopes the Hoops press on with Adam Idah as he noted what happened when Charlie Nicholas returned to Glasgow. He said: "I hope Celtic still prioritise in bringing back Adam Idah and not get sidetracked by Odsonne Edouard's apparent availability. Bringing back a player to his former club never works and I remember Celtic supporters getting excited when Charlie Nicholas made a return which turned into a total flop and the similarities are there with Edouard if this materialises."

Kenny Wilson also took the chance to keep on the topic of club football to send a message to the Rangers fan Hotline regulars. He said: "It seems all the Rangers fans don’t do well when the gloating is on the other foot. All we heard all season week on week was how much better they were than Celtic and going to win the quadruple now after only winning the League Cup they take umbrage to Celtic fans gloating ! If you can’t take it, don’t give it is my message to all the usual suspects."

Caller Neil Renton has sparked debates on the phone after his comments about Lawrence Shankland. He branded him out his depth for Scotland and stated playing for a 'mediocre' Hearts team is his level. David Cook emailed: "Had to laugh at Mr Renton. He should be heading to the circus, not Germany. Slagging off Scotland's Player of the Year & Edinburgh's big mediocre team who will also be heading to Europe soon."

Wullie Graham, Bristol added: "Neil Renton needs to have another look at the final league table if he thinks Lawrence Shankland is playing in a mediocre Hearts team. Hearts finished 22 points above his beloved Hibees, and it was Shankland's goals that sent his team into the bowels of the league. With our new signings already in the bag and hopefully Shankland staying there is more pain to come for his team next season. The problem on Monday was all the good chances fell to the wrong players. Shankland will score goals if the chances come his way, as he has proved all season. Remember the 93rd minute at Easter Road!"
