Oil Pipeline Explodes In Lagos, Killing at Least Two People

At least two people were killed and dozens more injured after vandals were reported to have broken into a state-run pipeline to steal petrol on July 4, subsequently starting a fire that resulted in a pipeline exploding.

Security agents intercepted the suspects as they were transferring petrol to their trucks and in a bid to escape arrest, the suspects spilled petrol into drains, sparking a fire, local media reported.

The fire spread back to the point where the vandals had siphoned the fuel and the pipeline exploded, the report said, citing Lagos State Emergency Mangement Agency (LASEMA) head Femi Osanyintolu.
