Oklahoma Firefighters Save Man Trapped in Floodwaters

A team of firefighters in Oklahoma saved a man who had been clinging to a fence in floodwater for five hours on May 21, the Broken Arrow Fire Department said.

According to the department, the man’s vehicle had been swept off the road by floodwaters in Broken Arrow and firefighters used a life safety rope to wade through the current to give him a flotation device. Firefighters pulled the man to safety and he was brought to hospital in a stable condition, they said.

On Wednesday, Broken Arrow began issuing voluntary evacuations for residents living in the southern areas of the city, according to reports from KJRH and a post on the city’s Facebook page. Credit: Broken Arrow Fire Department via Storyful
