He came, he saw, he conquered Tyson Fury and now Oleksandr Usyk is the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.

The Ukrainian fighter delivered a ruthless display against the Gypsy King, knocking him down in an incredible ninth round as he secured a split decision win with scores of 115-112, 113-114, and 114-113.

The win sees him continue his career-long unbeaten run and become the first undisputed heavyweight world champion since Lennox Lewis nearly 25 years ago. Of course, it also leaves him tens of millions of pounds better off after securing a huge payday from the bout in Saudi Arabia.

The total purse for the fight is believed to have been in the region s believed to be in the region of around $150 million (£116 million), according to The Independent. While an agreement was struck last year that the purse would be split 70/30 in Fury's favour - with Usyk accepting the minority share on the condition that the British fighter donates £1 million of his earnings to Ukraine - the Ukrainian has still banked a princely sum.

If the reported purse is correct, the fight contract means that the new undisputed champion earned roughly $45 million (£35.4 million) from one night's work in Riyadh. That prize money will see him add to his estimated net worth of around £45 million which has grown significantly since he first took on Anthony Joshua in 2021.

After beating Fury, Usyk will take that money back to his wife and four children in Ukraine. He has been married to his wife Yekaterina, a 36-year-old model more commonly known as Katerina, for 15 years.

The couple are popular figures amongst Ukrainians and have four children - sons Kyrylo and Mykhalio and daughters Yelizaveta and newborn Maria - together. While Katerina keeps her family life largely private, she has proven herself as the boxer's biggest fan, always appearing at ringside to cheer him on.

When Usyk faced Daniel Dubois last year, his promoter Alex Krassyuk revealed that Katerina had shouted at her husband to "beat the s*** out of him" after what was judged to be a low blow from the British fighter.

"If the fighter is hit with a low blow - intentional or unintentional - the referee can give up to five minutes for an injured fighter," he said. "Let me tell you, Usyk’s wife was shouting at Oleksandr after that to tell him, ‘beat the s*** out of him'".

Katerina has even scarified 'family time' in order for Usyk to reach the top of the sport, giving the heavyweight her blessing to miss his daughter Maria's birth ahead of the fight with Fury. Recalling finding out that his scheduled bout with the British fighter in February was off, Usyk said: "Even my wife found out first because I was training.

"After sparring I was in the ring and information started to come through and I had a lot of messages on my phone. But my wife was not angry that I had missed the birth. It's my job and she is very smart. I am at my training camp and my wife says, 'No problem, you have to work, Alex'."

Following his victory over Fury, Usyk revealed what he had planned next. While he was quizzed on a potential rematch between the two heavyweights, he said he planned to finally put family first and go back home after months of training.

"I don't think about boxing now, please," he said. "My camp started in September 2023, I worked for nine months.

"I missed Happy New Year, I missed my son's birthday, I missed my other son's birthday, I missed my daughter's birthday and then the birth of my daughter. I also missed family holidays. I was only focused on this fight, now I'm happy and I want to go back home."
