Olivia Wilde has rubbished gossip about her neglecting Florence Pugh on the set of her film Don't Worry Darling.

The star, 38, directed The Falling actor Pugh in the psychological thriller and there has been talk about some sort of falling out.

One rumour is that Wilde was so enamoured with cast member Harry Styles – who she is now dating – that she didn't focus much on Pugh.

However, she has now told Vanity Fair that she and Pugh actually "worked very well together".

She said: “It is very rare that people assume the best from women in power. I think they don’t often give us the benefit of the doubt.

"Florence did the job I hired her to do, and she did it exquisitely. She blew me away. Every day I was in awe of her, and we worked very well together.”

Wilde said she also thought it was "ironic" that the topic was being discussed, given that her film deals with the power of women and how easy it is to take a woman's power by using other females to shame them.

Don't Worry Darling has become one of the year's most-talked about films.

As well as the speculation about Wilde and Pugh, there has been a lot of gossip about Styles replacing Shia LaBeouf.

The Transformers star was originally part of the movie but Styles took over his role, and there have been different versions of how and why he left.

And Wilde's split from actor Jason Sudeikis - which saw her served custody papers on behalf of Sudeikis while appearing on stage at CinemaCon in Las Vegas to promote the movie - has also had quite a lot of attention.

There was more drama this month when there were claims that Styles spat on his co-star Chris Pine at the Venice Film Festival.

However, Pine's rep told People it was "a ridiculous story – a complete fabrication and the result of an odd online illusion".
