Alec Baldwin has a high-profile — and, it turns out, expensive — legal team fighting his involuntary manslaughter charge.

Alex Spiro of the law firm Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan has previously charged a client $2,025 per hour, an amount revealed in legal documents obtained by PEOPLE.

The Harvard-educated attorney, who worked with billionaire Elon Musk during his takeover of Twitter (now known as X), charged the amount while representing Charlie Javice, an entrepreneur indicted on charges of fraud and conspiracy in 2023.

Javice, who founded the student loan company Frank, sold her business to JP Morgan Chase for $175 million in 2021. But after the financial giant acquired the company, they claimed Javice falsely inflated the number of customers she had prior to the takeover.

JP Morgan Chase sued her for fraud, and federal prosecutors soon brought criminal charges as well.

A judge in the case ruled last year that JP Morgan Chase was legally obligated to pay Javice’s attorney fees. In court documents associated with the case, Spiro’s $2,025 per hour fee was revealed.

It is unclear if Baldwin, 66, is paying Sprio that amount. Spiro, who is just one of several lawyers representing Baldwin, did not immediately reply to a request for comment about his past and current fees.

If Baldwin were to pay that premium amount, a regular 40 hour work week would cost Baldwin $81,000 for Spiro alone.

Spiro is also representing New York City mayor Eric Adams in a sexual harassment lawsuit brought by a former aide who alleges inappropriate conduct three decades ago. (Adams has denied wrongdoing.) According to ABC News, Spiro is charging the embattled official only $250 per hour, a discount of more than 87 percent.

According to Vanity Fair, Spiro has also represented Jay-Z, Mick Jagger and Naomi Osaka.

Baldwin is on trial for involuntary manslaughter for his role in the accidental shooting death of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. The actor was holding a prop gun on the New Mexico set of the Western in 2021 when it discharged, killing Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza.

The Emmy winner, who has pleaded not guilty, insists he did not pull the trigger or know how the gun came to contain live ammunition. If convicted, he faces up to 18 months in prison.

Rust armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the person in charge of weapons on the movie set, was convicted in March of involuntary manslaughter for her role in Hutchins’ death. She is currently serving an 18 month sentence while she appeals.
