One dead and four injured in Ayrshire horror crash

A man has died and four other people left injured following a horror crash in Ayrshire yesterday.

A silver Skoda Octavia and motorbike collided at around 3.10pm on the A719 Waterside heading towards the A77 Ayr Road.

The 56-year-old motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, police confirmed today.

The male driver of the car was left uninjured but four female passengers were taken to Crosshouse for treatment.

Officials confirmed today that the motorcyclist's next of kin have been informed but that formal identification is yet to take place.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Police Sergeant Gordon Stewart for the Road Policing Unit said: “Our inquiries are continuing to understand the full circumstances of what happened. Sadly, the male motorcyclist died, and our thoughts are with his family and friends.

“I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have dash-cam footage, and has not yet spoken to or provided this information to officers, to contact us as soon as possible.

“The road re-opened around 1am on Sunday, 16 June, 2024. I want to thank members of the public for their patience while we investigated this serious collision.”

“Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2245 of Saturday, 15 June, 2024.”
