One in hospital after air ambulance attends incident on County Durham road

One person has been taken to hospital following an incident this afternoon.

The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) have confirmed they were called to incident on Hunwick Lane in Crook shortly before 3pm on Thursday (May 9).

They confirmed they deployed two ambulance crews, one clinical team leader and were supported by the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS).

They added one patient was taken to hospital.

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to an incident on Hunwick Lane in Crook this afternoon (9 May) shortly before 3pm.

“We dispatched two ambulance crews, one clinical team leader and were supported by our colleagues at Great North Air Ambulance Service.

“One patient was taken to University Hospital of North Durham."

A GNAAS spokesperson said: "Our doctor-led team were activated at 15.02 to an incident in Crook.

"The team flew to the scene and arrived at 15.08, they worked with the North East Ambulance Service to treat the patient before accompanying them to hospital by road."

The Northern Echo has also contacted Durham Police for more information on the incident.
