The One Show's Alex Jones was replaced during the episode that aired on Tuesday, July 9 amid a big new chapter in her life. The Welsh presenter kicked off the week alongside Lauren Laverne on Monday, July 8, but was replaced by Vernon Kay on tonight's episode.

Alex is a permanent presenter on The One Show, a role she's had since 2010, and regularly hosts alongside Jermaine Jenas, who is currently in Germany for the Euros 2024, and Roman Kemp. However, all three of the main presenters were replaced on Tuesday as Lauren and Vernon took the reigns.

They were joined by actors Daisy Edgar Jones, Glen Powell and Anthony Ramos who are the stars of the new blockbuster Twisters, as well as Alan Carr, who joined the famous green sofa to talk about the return of eighties sitcom Changing Ends.

While Alex's absence wasn't addressed, the mum-of-three is currently in the process of moving house and has been keeping her 363,000 Instagram followers updated with her packing as she prepares to move her family out of the home they've resided in for the last 11 years.

Earlier this week, Alex shared the "news" and said she was moving in three weeks as she went through her children's memory boxes and asked fans for packing tips. She told her followers: "This was emotional. After 11 years, we are moving house," followed by a crying face emoji.

And on Tuesday night, Alex told her followers her life was "currently boxes," as she packed away a bookshelf and showed a room full of cardboard boxes and Ikea bags on her Instagram Story.

The 47-year-old was on The One Show sofa on Monday night and had an exciting announcement for fans.

Alex and Lauren opened the show with some big Strictly Come Dancing news as they exclusively confirmed that Aljaž Škorjanec was returning to the professional line-up after a two-year hiatus.

The One Show has been removed from the schedules on Wednesday, July 10, to make way for the football but Alex is set to return to screens on Thursday, July 11.
