Londoners will be able to swim right under the nose of some of the city’s biggest skyscrapers, as open water swimming sessions return to Canary Wharf for the summer. Swims will run in Canary Wharf’s Middle Dock from now until the end of October.

The sessions are returning after the success of last year’s programme which brought open water swimming to the area for the first time. The waters at Middle Dock come from spring water deep below the city which is regularly tested by Love Open Water, who manage the sessions.

Swimmers of all abilities over the age of 10 will be able to attend on Monday and Thursday evenings, Friday mornings or Saturday afternoons. The dock is located very close to Canary Wharf Tube station and DLR trains run above it.

The open water swimming sessions are part of a series of new summer events happening in Canary Wharf which include an outdoor film club, music performances, mini-golf and arts events. Viewers can expect to see family favourites like Barbie and Shrek, as well as screenings of major sporting events such as Wimbledon, the Olympics and Paralympics.

Swimmers can expect to pay £9 per swim and need to buy a £15 membership with the NOWCA, the UK’s largest network of safe open water venues. For more information visit the Canary Wharf Group's website.
