Sightings of bright objects streaking through the night sky in Oregon prompted locals to report the occurrence to Salem Police on March 25, police said.
The National Weather Service in Seattle said it was waiting to confirm what the objects were on Thursday night, but that the “unofficial information” pointed toward debris from a Falcon 9 rocket’s second stage "that did not successfully have a deorbit burn.”
This footage was recorded by Lynsey Wallace in Oregon. She said she and her husband “were both stunned” when they saw the objects streak across the night sky. “A few minutes later we heard muffled booms,” she said. Credit: Lynsey Wallace via Storyful
