Orpington pair charged after £3.6 million of cocaine found on Heathrow flight

Two people from Orpington have been charged with drug smuggling offences after £3.6million worth of cocaine was found on a Heathrow Airport flight.

Border Force officers found 45 kilos of cocaine in three suitcases on board a flight from Montego Bay in Jamaica which landed at Heathrow on Monday evening (April 29).

National Crime Agency (NCA) investigators were called into interview three men.

Barry Costello, aged 63, of Mountfield Way in Orpington, and a 17-year-old from Orpington who cannot be named due to his age, were both charged with importing class A drugs.

Anthony Cameron, aged 72, of Millmead Road in Birmingham, was also charged with the same offence.

They will all appear at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (May 1).

NCA senior investigating officer Ian Truby said: “These were significant seizures, and in making them we have denied a significant amount of criminal profit.

“The NCA continues to works closely with our partners at Border Force to protect the public and prevent class A drugs reaching the streets of the UK.”
