Yahoo News Outlander star cast in Bloodshot superhero movie
Outlander star Sam Heughan is going to be teaming up with Fast and Furious's Vin Diesel for the Bloodshot superhero movie.
It'll be quite a change of scenery for Heughan – aka Jamie Fraser in Outlander – who will be swapping historical Scotland for the ever-expanding superhero universe.
Michael Sheen and Baby Driver's Eiza Gonzalez have also been cast in the upcoming film, which is based on the Valiant comic books.
Bloodshot – played by Diesel – is a heavily injured soldier who is saved by cutting-edge nanotechnology and then tasked with rounding up super-powered outcasts known as 'harbingers'.
The film will be directed by Dave Wilson, who worked on the visual effects for Avengers: Age of Ultron, as well as the cinematic trailers for a number of games such as The Elder Scrolls Online, Star Wars: The Old Republic and Halo Wars – so that might be an indication of the kind of special effects mastery we're in for.
There are currently no details about what characters the majority of the actors will play, but the film is in pre-production and is expected to start shooting in July.
Heughan will also be appearing alongside Kate McKinnon and Mila Kunis in the upcoming action comedy The Spy Who Dumped Me, which is set for a UK release in August.
Outlander season 4 arrives later this year. It will air on Starz in the US and be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video in the UK in November 2018.
