All pubs have something for adults, but just outside Farnham there is one that specifically caters to children. The Duke of Cambridge, hopes to keep the kids busy with a ‘one of a kind’ play area and family friendly service.

The traditional English pub is just five miles from Farnham and opposite the beautiful Hankley Common. Designed to offer a classic pub feel as well as a relaxed modern design, guests can come just for a drink or a larger meal.

With a patio and beer garden, there is plenty to explore in the summer when it becomes warm enough to enjoy sitting outside. Its main outside feature is a playground inspired by adventures around the River Wey through Tilford.

The wooden structure features bridges, a rowing boat, and a lookout tower as well as a slide, balance bars and stepping ducks. This will help keep children busy for hours, allowing for their adults to enjoy a longer lunch.

To accompany this there is a younger diner's menu, which the pub says is ideal for those aged five to 12 years old. As well as some specific meals for the little ones such as macaroni or chicken goujons, there is also the option for them to try some of the meals on the adult menu.

The garden bar and grill will also be serving food and drink, subject to the whims of the Great British weather. The pub uses locally sourced food and is proud of support for British farmers and producers.

One reviewer wrote on TripAdvisor that “Probably one of the best meals we have ever eaten out. The menu is really good, there is something for everyone. I can't find fault with anything, the food is wow and the staff are really helpful and friendly.”

Just outside the pub sits Hankley Common. The nature reserve was made famous after Skyfall. Chosen to look like Scotland, the site features heathland and plenty of walking options. With this in mind the pub is dog friendly, making it a good pit stop for those going on longer hikes.

Those looking for something lighter to eat, could choose the afternoon tea menu that includes a series of sweet treats as well as bottomless tea and cafetiere coffee.
