Firefighters Dampening Down Warehouse Blaze

More than 100 firefighters have been tackling a fire at a warehouse in west London.

Plumes of thick black smoke could be seen for miles as the flames tore through the two-storey building in Wadsworth Road, Perivale.

At least 15 crews from Heston, Northolt, Chiswick, Wembley, Park Royal, Ruislip and Ealing were sent to the scene after the blaze broke out just before 7pm on Saturday.

Around 30 people were evacuated from the building and local residents were advised to keep their windows and doors closed to stop toxic fumes getting into their homes.

London Fire Brigade (LFB) station manager Jeff Lisle said crews had worked "very hard in difficult conditions" throughout the night.

He said firefighters used aerial ladder platforms to tackle the fire from numerous vantage points and to ensure the blaze did not spread to neighbouring warehouses.

In a tweet this morning, the LFB said: "The fire on Wadsworth Road, Perivale, is now under control. Crews will be damping down hot spots for some time."

There were no reports of any injuries and the cause of the fire is not yet known.
