Dozens Arrested in Paris as Police Clash With Pension Reform Protesters

French media reported at least 171 arrests were made in Paris overnight into March 21 during continuing unrest over pension reforms and following the Macron government’s survival of a no-confidence vote.

Journalists and social media users decried what they saw as the heavy handed response of police, with this footage from journalist Thomas Dietrich of @LeMediaTV showing him being confronted by an officer in riot gear. Dietrich said he witnessed “several dozen violent arrests”.

Other footage on social media showed similar scenes in the city on Monday night.
