Pagan priest given permission to wear HORNS in his driving license photo

Posing for a driving license photograph is not exactly the most glamorous thing ever – unless you get to wear DEVIL HORNS.

And that is exactly what the brilliantly named Phelan MoonSong has been given permission to do by officials in Bangor, Maine.

Mr MoonSong is actually a Pagan priest and wanted to wear the horns in the official picture for religious reasons rather than for the LOLs.

He was initially denied permission by the Bangor Bureau of Motor Vehicles but he visited another centre in Portland, Oregon, who decided he should be allow to sport the headgear.

He wrote on Facebook: “I won. Picture with horns allowed and being retaken.”

Mr MoonSong has been using his unusual moniker since 2007 but did not have any ID with the name on it so he had to apply for a new license.

Speaking about how his initial photo was rejected, he told WGME-TV: “I think they tried to think they needed to have a more stringent rule or reason why my spirituality or my religion was a proper one.

“That’s not really required, just a strong belief to start any church or religion.”

The American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators states that religious headgear cannot obstruct the person’s face in a driving license photograph.
