Pak's low T20 world ranking 'shock' to whole team: Misbah

Dubai, Oct 26(ANI): Pakistan captain Misbah-ul Haq has said that the whole squad was shocked over being placed at the seventh spot in the inaugural Twenty20 International (T20I) team rankings launched at the International Cricket Council (ICC). Pakistan were runners-up in the inaugural World Twenty20 in 2007 before winning the title in England in 2009. However, Pakistan's 13 defeats in their last 24 Twenty20 matches since August 2009 to August 2011 - the period for which the rankings were devised- left them at the seventh position. Pakistan's low ranking was quite a shock to the whole team, a foreign news agency quoted Misbah, as saying. The captain also said that all his players were keen to improve their ranking before next year's World Twenty20 to be held in Sri Lanka. Teams that have played eight or more Twenty20 Internationals since August 2009 have been included on the table. Pakistan has played the highest number of matches (24) during the same period, but at the same time it has lost more than 50 per cent of its matches, which explains its current seventh position. (ANI)
