Paloma Faith has regretfully announced the cancellation of her performance mere hours before she was due to take the stage, citing vocal issues.

The acclaimed 42 year old artist informed fans that on medical advice, she must rest her voice and will not be performing at Southampton's Guildhall Square on Friday.

She is scheduled to grace the stage at Glastonbury's Pyramid Stage on Sunday, followed by a show at London's Eventim Apollo on Wednesday, and then proceeding to the Utilita Arena Cardiff on Thursday.

In an Instagram update, Faith expressed her distress: "I'm incredibly upset and disappointed to announce that I need to cancel my show tonight in Southampton."

She continued to explain the situation: "After suffering from exhaustion and catching various illnesses from my kids, my voice has been severely affected and my range is compromised."

Seeking professional guidance, she added: "I have sought advice from medical professionals, they have advised that I need to rest my voice and that means I've had to cancel tonight's show."

Apologising to her supporters, she said: "I'm so sorry to everyone who bought tickets, I've loved being on the road and seeing all your gorgeous faces and I'm gutted I won't be dancing with you tonight. There will be other opportunities in the future I'm sure."

Faith assured ticket holders: "Ticket holders will be able to claim refunds from point of purchase. Loads of love, Paloma x."

This isn't the first time Faith has had to postpone a show; she previously delayed a concert in April due to laryngitis, just hours before she was set to perform at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith.

The North London singer, famed for her ballads such as Only Love Can Hurt Like This and Picking Up The Pieces, unveiled her first album in four years, named The Glorification Of Sadness, earlier this year.

This deeply personal album delves into the aftermath of her split with her partner of nine years, who is also the father of her two children.
