Panasonic Revamps Legendary Technics Turntables For Vinyl Fans

Panasonic is bringing back vinyl with a revamped Technics turntable set to land in 2016.

The tech firm showcased a prototype of the updated record player at the IFA tech show in Berlin, in celebration of Technics’ 50th anniversary this year.

The new player will combine ‘emotive acoustic technology and advanced digital technology to provide new technological synergies’, says the maker.

The legendary hi-fi audio brand, beloved by DJs around the globe, was successfully resurrected by Panasonic in 2014 following a hiatus that began in 2010.

Following a rise in demand for vinyl and analogue turntables in recent years, Technics has developed a brand new direct drive motor to power its upcoming turntable.

The brand has been ‘reviewing and reconsidering every single component’ of the deck.

According to Michiko Ogawa, director at Technics: “Our aim is to realise a smoother rotation than ever before”.

Panasonic UK Marketing Director David Preece told Yahoo News UK: “While better compression and improved files formats have removed boundaries for streaming high-resolution audio, people still like the collectability associated with physical vinyl records decks. People want them in their homes again”.
