The parents of a three-month-old girl mauled to death by a husky in woodland have been granted unconditional bail.

Karen Alcock, 41, and Vincent King, 54, are accused of being in charge of the dog, called Blizzard, which killed their daughter Kyra King while dangerously out of control.

Emergency services were called to Ostlers Plantation near Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire, at around 11pm on 6 March.

Both defendants, of Castledyke Bank, New York, near Coningsby, Lincolnshire, appeared at Boston Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

Alcock, who was wearing black trousers and a light coloured blouse, gave no indication of plea, while King, dressed in a dark suit and purple tie, pleaded not guilty.

The couple were granted unconditional bail and were ordered to appear for a plea hearing at Lincoln Crown Court on 7 December.

Lincolnshire Police said the dog was being kept in isolation at secure kennels and officers were seeking a court order to have it destroyed.
