A doctor’s surgery could lose parking spaces if an extension plan is approved. The move would see an increase in facilities to help with patients.

The plan, from Nilesh Chawda, looks to extend current provisions at Whitwick Road Surgery in Coalville’s Whitwick Road. If approved, it would see a new “modular” block put in place on the car park of the surgery and act as a separate extension.

No changes to the main surgery building are proposed, but the “modular” block would comprise two consulting rooms. A “small” waiting area is also included in plans.

Documents reveal that an “administration room” would also feature in the additional facilities. However, the plan would result in the loss of some of the 41 parking spaces at the surgery.

In documents, Mr Chawda confirmed that three tarmacked spaces to the eastern side of the car park would be lost. No disabled bays are affected by the proposal. A small area of grass around the car park would also make way for the new building if it is approved. Mr Chawda also confirmed that the new building would not see an increase in staff at Whitwick Road Surgery.

In documents, he said five full-time employees and five part-time will continue on site. A decision on the extension will be made by North West Leicestershire District Council at a later date.
