Callum Fordyce says his Diamonds are determined to seal third spot in the Championship - and boost the club coffers.

Airdrie travel to Partick today looking to officially seal their play-off spot and they currently sit joint-third with the Jags going into the final three games.

Only goal difference has the Maryhill men just in front but that could all change if the Diamonds pull off a result at Firhill.

And Fordyce knows there is more than points at stake for the club if they can head into the play-offs with a some strong result behind them.

He said: "We know the club will get more [prize] money the higher up the table we finish so the target is to finish as high as we can.

"From where we've come from last season and getting promoted, to be where we are sitting now is a great achievement for the players.

"Nothing is ever given to you in football and we've still got a lot of hard work to do.

"We know what is at stake today and we can't let ourselves get carried away because football is a mad game at times.

"We've got to go there with the right mentality and stick to what we've been doing in recent weeks, so it should be a good spectacle.

"Momentum is everything in football, especially at the business end of the season.

"If you look at last season, we did exactly the same as we are doing now.

"We went on a great run and it was just that snowball effect going into the play-offs.

"The games come thick and fast and you look forward to them because there is something to play for."

Airdrie have had mixed results against the Jags so far this term, winning one, losing one and drawing the other.

On the task facing his side against Kris Doolan's men, Fordyce said: "We know it will be a very tough game.

"They are a well-established side who were minutes away from getting into the Premiership last season.

"They have a great squad, good individuals and a good team spirit.

"We've had tough games against them this season so it will be a game where we make sure we are concentrating and put our gameplan into place."
