This particular shade of blue is the colour you’ll be wearing come spring

We’ve still got a few more weeks of fashion month left to go (including Paris where most of the major houses show), but already visible trends are starting to trickle in.

It doesn’t take a genius to have noticed the zingy colour palettes emerging as a theme throughout New York Fashion Week, and in London too.

And yet while vibrant yellow and lime green are set to top the seasonal menu for Spring/ Summer 2020, so too is blue.

But it’s a particular shade of blue that’s been peppering the catwalks. In fact, if we're going to get technical it's actually steel blue with a dash of cerulean blue which is making waves this season.

On the catwalk at Sies Marjan in New York, the colour was seen in slinky slip dresses, which they paired with the most controversial shoe of 2019 (if not the Century), the heeled flip-flop.

At Richard Malone, hand-painted mesh under layers and ruched, deconstructed organza suiting came in powders shades of steel and cornflower.

Staud, the brain-child of Sarah Staudinger, also weaved the colour through its most recent SS20 show in New York. And if this leather look is anything to go by, it seems that double blue isn't off the table.

Even the fashion family have twigged on too, as street style stars have been showing us mere mortals how the colour can work as a slightly more demure, every day look.

The simplest way to inject the colour into a more stereotypically muted wardrobe is via a midi dress, which can then be worn with cream accessories for a very on-the-money autumnal look

We should've seen this trend coming a mile off, given the hype surrounding the same shade bag and shoes by Bottega Veneta that have become the smash hit accessories of the season.

All aboard the bandwagon!
