A passenger has been taken to hospital following a crash at Testo's roundabout.

Police were received a report of a two-vehicle collision at the roundabout in South Tyneside, where the A184 meets the A19, at around 5.30am on Monday.

They were told that one vehicle had collided with another vehicle and a set of traffic lights.

A female passenger of one of the vehicles was taken to South Tyneside District Hospital in South Shields for treatment. She sustained injures not believed to be life-threatening.

One lane of Testo's roundabout was closed for more than two hours while police and paramedics dealt with the incident and there was slow traffic in the area. The road has now been reopened.
