Patrick Kielty Recalls Cute Moment He Wooed Cat Deeley By Surprising Her For Her Birthday

Patrick Kielty (who’s one half of one of our favourite couples in the world of celebrity) has totally melted our hearts by recalling the moment he wooed Cat Deeley by surprising her in Los Angeles for her birthday.

The couple have been close friends since presenting Fame Academy together back in 2002, before debuting as a couple in March 2012 and later tying the knot in a secret ceremony in Italy six months later.

The two are now expecting their first baby together - Hurrah!

When Ruth Langsford asked how Patrick, who was appearing on Loose Women, and Cat got together after years of friendship, the Irish presenter recalled: “There was a moment, [when] we always used to keep in contact.

“It was her birthday and she was in Beverley Hills and I was in Dundrum. Obviously LA is eight hours behind, so it was around tea time with her, I texted her ‘Happy Birthday’ from a little Irish pub.

“It was around two o'clock in the morning and closing time. She said, 'It’s just a shame you’re not in LA, because I’m having a lunch tomorrow’ and I said 'I’ll be there’.

“So I got up at five jumped on a six o'clock flight from Ireland and got into Heathrow at seven, then jumped on a twenty to ten flight got in at quarter past one, and walked into the Beverley Hills Hotel and I said 'Hi’ and she fell off the chair and we’ve been together ever since.”

He also explained just how excited they are to be welcoming their first child next year, saying: “Yes. There is a little baby on the way. In the spring. Very exciting, God love it. It’s going to have this as a father.”
