Patsy Kensit has confirmed her return to EastEnders - and admitted that despite being a famous actor herself, she was left starstruck by the soap's cast.

The former Holby City star's best known soap role is as Sadie King in Emmerdale, but she crossed over to the cast of EastEnders briefly earlier this year when she was cast as Lola Pearce's mum Emma Harding.

Emma arrived in Albert Square before Lola's (Danielle Harold) death, but is now due to return to Walford for another short stint as Lola's daughter Lexi tries to recover from the shock of losing her mum.

Speaking on This Morning, Kensit, 55, told how pleased she was to be back in the BBC One soap.

Kensit said: "I’m a superfan and it really is my dream job. That was really top of list. It was manifested."

Despite having plenty of high-profile roles to her name, the actor admitted that she suffered from nerves the first time she met the familiar cast of EastEnders.

She said. "I was really starstruck and super nervous as I actually am a superfan."

However, although Kensit is pleased to be back in the cast, she shared that viewers might find some of her character Emma's behaviour a little difficult to take.

Telling how she was not the best person to be back in Lexi's life, she said on Monday's This Morning: "Emma is a flight risk.

"She will say and believe everything that she’s telling this person and then walk out of the door. It’s cruel."

Kensit first appeared as Emma in January and said that she would be keen to return to the character again after her most recent reappearance.

Explaining that it was a decision for the writers of the soap, she said: "They’ve really written a brilliant character. To stay involved, it’s so interesting. I get to say all the things to people I would never say in real life."

Kensit has previously admitted that she would love to return to Emmerdale as Sadie, too.

She said: "I’d love to – I loved the character of Sadie. She was someone who said all the things that people wanted to say in their lives but don’t have the courage to."

Holby City, where Kensit starred as Faye Morton, was cancelled by the BBC last year, airing its final episode in March 2022.

The medical drama had debuted as a Casualty spin-off in 1999.
