Sir Paul McCartney's hugely-anticipated Carpool Karaoke with James Corden is on the way – and we've now got our first sneak peek.

The Beatles legend will be escorted around Liverpool by the chat show host (and do some of the driving himself too, by the looks of things), as the pair belt out the music icon's classic tunes.

The segment will air during Corden's Late Late Show UK specials this week.

The news was first leaked by a Beatles tour guide, who was showing a group the statue of the four Beatles on the Liverpool waterfront when McCartney and Corden showed up unexpectedly.

"We'd had a lovely morning. I had four people with me, from Washington State and California, and we were finishing the tour by the new statues," guide Jackie Spencer told Variety.

"There was a couple of paparazzi around and we said to one of them, 'Who's the celebrity in town?' We'd heard rumors but nobody would tell us. And then this guy said, 'Well, I'll tell you one of them: It's James Corden. He's with somebody else and they're in that car over there'."

She continued: "And the next minute, this black car pulls up and both Paul McCartney and James Corden get out of it!"

Spencer also revealed that McCartney "just stood and got pictures with everybody at the statue", and that he was "being really nice to everybody".

Last month, Corden opened up about one potential Carpool Karaoke guest who wasn't quite taken by the idea of singing their biggest hits in a 4x4.

(It was Bryan Adams, who might reconsider now that actual Paul McCartney is game.)

The Late Late Show with James Corden airs on CBS in the US and on Sky One and NOW TV in the UK. The UK specials will air between June 19 and 22 at 10pm, also on Sky One and NOW TV.
