Yahoo News Pax rolls out 2 new sleek app-connected weed vaporizers
Pax Labs is the Apple of cannabis vaporizers, and it released two new vapes just in time for the upcoming holidays.
Since multiple states in the United States started legalizing and selling marijuana, there have been plenty of advancements in smoking and vaping technology. Procuring cannabis and devices turned from a sketchy transaction to an experience similar to buying a new computer. There's no reason the products shouldn't reflect that.

The Pax 3

While the Pax 2 has generally been given the title as one of the best vapes on the market, the Pax 3 just kicked it off its pedestal. The Pax 3 may look and feel similar to the Pax 2, but the new vape has four major upgrades.
Concentrates - Previously the Pax 1 and 2 were flower only devices, but thanks to a new and easy to use insert, the Pax 3 can swap between flower and waxy concentrates in just a few seconds. Given the oven is at the bottom of the vape, it is possible for your concentrate to leak out as it heats, but using a more solid extract and a smaller amount should prevent this from happening.
Faster heating and charging - The Pax 2 took a painstaking 45 seconds to heat its element, which meant you were sitting impatiently waiting before you could actually use the thing. The Pax 3 takes just 15 seconds to heat up, giving you many precious moments of your life back. Additionally, Pax was able to cut the full charging time down from 90 minutes to 60.
App connectivity - Along with the new vapes Pax Labs is also releasing a Pax Vapor App. Unfortunately, the beta app isn't available just yet so we weren't able to test it out, but bringing your weed vape to the internet of things is exactly where we expect the industry to go. According to Pax, the app will allow users to customize flavor and vapor volume by setting the precise temperature, as well as customizable LED color themes, interactive games and the ability to lock their device.
Haptic Feedback - No more guessing if you pressed the button or if the element is heated and ready to go. The Pax 3 delivers short vibrations to let you know when the device is ready, goes into standby mode or shuts off completely.
The Pax 3 also comes in a variety of colors with a high-polish finish, which is one of the subtle features that makes the PAX line one of the best vapes on the market. Not only are they discreet, but they just don't really look like something you would traditionally smoke or vape weed with, so no one would think twice if they spotted you holding one.

Aside from that, the Pax 3 is pretty similar to the Pax 2. And with over 1 million units sold, there wasn't reason to change much. Unfortunately, the Pax 3 isn't the cheapest vape out there, at $274.99 retail, it's definitely on the high side for a smoking device, but the 10-year warranty should ease buyers minds enough before toking up.
The Pax 3 should be available in retail stores in mid October.
The Pax Era

While many seasoned stoners surely still prefer to smoke their weed in flower form, the ready availability of other methods has really shifted the market. Concentrates and edibles sales are on the rise in Colorado, and with it comes a flurry of new products and a bunch of different ways to consume. Consumers want vaping to be easy, clean and hassle free, which is the exact purpose of the Pax Era.
Simply put, the Pax Era is a sleek and small concentrate vape that utilizes pre-loaded cartridges. It's easy to use, and perfect for use on-the-go, such as a hike or sneaking a few puffs while out on the town. It will also connect to the Pax Vapor app.

The only drawback is that you have to purchase Pax Pods in order to use the device, which means that many consumers will not be able to use the device. Currently, the pods will only be available in Colorado for all adults and in California for medical marijuana patients, but hopefully this will eventually change.

The Pax Era retails for $59.99 and the Pods will go for about $40, so the Era is a great choice for someone who wants to try vaping concentrates for the first time but doesn't want to drop a ton of money.
Unfortunately, the Era and Pod I received to demo did not contain any actual marijuana (thanks, New York State) but the cartridges were easily exchanged and easy to use.
With multiple states voting to legalizing cannabis in the November election, expect more connected vapes that are stylish and easy to use in the future.
