Account holders with HSBC have reported issues with the bank's app not working.

There have already been more than 7000 reported issues on Downdetector this morning (Friday, June 28).

All the issues reported are about the app and users not being able to log in.

HSBC said the problem started at around 8.20am on Friday (June 28) morning but the root of the issue was still under investigation.

HSBC app not working

Account holders have gone online this morning to vent their frustration and try and work out whether other people are having the same issue.

One person on X (formerly Twitter), posting a screenshot with a "service unavailable" message said: "Anyone else having issues with HSBC mobile banking app today."

While another person added: "@HSBC_UK the app is not working again and I need to pay bills."

A third person commented: "@HSBC_UK what's going on with the app/website? It's payday and I can't access my wages."

Someone else posted: "@HSBC_UK Good morning,im getting a service unavailable message on my mobile banking,I can’t log in."

Another person on Downdetector said: "Unable to log in via the app or the web this morning!"

HSBC "really sorry" and working on getting services back to normal

In a statement, a HSBC UK spokesperson said: “We’re working hard to restore Online and Mobile Banking services for our customers, and we’re really sorry for the inconvenience.

"Customers are able to confirm purchases via SMS option, and can use their debit and credit cards for instore purchases as usual.”
