Cillian Murphy is about to don his Peaky Blinders cap again.

On Tuesday, June 4, Netflix confirmed Murphy's gangster Tommy Shelby would return for a movie version of the hit series, which ran for six seasons from 2013 to 2022.

The streaming service shared a photo of the script on X (formerly known as Twitter), confirming the upcoming film had been written by Steven Knight and directed by Tom Harper.

“It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me… It is very gratifying to be re-collaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans,” Murphy said.

Harper added, per Deadline, “When I first directed Peaky Blinders over 10 years ago, we didn’t know what the series would become, but we did know that there was something in the alchemy of the cast and the writing that felt explosive."

"Peaky has always been a story about family — and so it’s incredibly exciting to be reuniting with Steve and Cillian to bring the movie to audiences across the world on Netflix,” he added.

The movie's plot is being kept under wraps, but Knight did suggest it would be "set in World War II" in an interview with Deadline published in April 2022.

Netflix's movie confirmation comes after Knight told U.K. outlet Birmingham World in March that Murphy would be reprising his role in the upcoming film.

"He definitely is returning for it," Knight said of the Oscar-winning actor. "We're shooting it in September just down the road in Digbeth [England]," he added at the time.

Knight also praised Murphy's performance in Oppenheimer, telling the outlet that the Best Actor Academy Award he won in March "was so deserved."

"I mean he's brilliant, and he's such a great human being and he leads the line when we're shooting and he's so levelheaded and straightforward. He deserves everything he gets," the screenwriter said at the time.
