Pedestrian, 67, in hospital after being hit by car in North Tyneside

A pedestrian has been hospitalised after being hit by a car in North Tyneside.

A 67-year-old man sustained injuries after being involved in a collision with a car on Monkseaton Drive in Whitley Bay. The man was taken to hospital for treatment and the road was blocked for a time.

The crash happened shortly before 4pm on Monday and the vehicle was later recovered. The injuries the pedestrian sustained are not believed to be life threatening.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Just before 3.45pm yesterday (Monday), we received a report of a collision between a car and a pedestrian on Monkseaton Drive in North Tyneside.

"Emergency services attended the scene, where the pedestrian – a 67-year-old male –sustained injuries not believed to be life-threatening. He was taken to hospital for treatment and the road was temporarily blocked while the vehicle was recovered.”
