Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Joseph Quinn to Star in Marvel’s Fantastic Four Film

Four small screen vets will be bringing Fantastic Four to the big screen.

Marvel Studios announced Wednesday that Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian, The Last of Us), Vanessa Kirby (The Crown), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear), and Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) have been tapped to headline the long-in-the-works film.

Pascal will play Reed Richards (aka Mr. Fantastic), Kirby will star as Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman, Quinn will portray Johnny Storm/The Human Torch and Moss-Bachrach will take on the role of Ben Grimm/The Thing.

A Fantastic Four movie set in the MCU was first announced in 2019, not long after the Walt Disney Company acquired 21st Century Fox. Matt Shakman, who previously directed Disney+’s WandaVision, will helm the film. It is now slated to be released July 25, 2025.

Pascal’s version of Reed Richards — an engineering whiz who has superhuman elasticity and shapeshifting abilities — won’t be the first one seen in the MCU, as John Krasinski played a version of Reed in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Meanwhile, WandaVision appeared to obliquely reference the character (but never introduced him on screen) when S.A.B.E.R. agent Monica Rambeau enlisted an “aerospace engineer” friend to build a Hex-busting vehicle.

Reed has also been portrayed by Ioan Gruffudd (2005’s Fantastic Four and 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer) and Miles Teller (2015’s Fantastic Four).

Pascal, of course, currently stars in both HBO’s The Last of Us and Disney+’s The Mandalorian. It’s not yet clear how, if at all, his Fantastic Four casting will affect the production timetable of either series. The Last of Us is set to begin shooting Season 2 next month, with new episodes airing in 2025 at the earliest.

Newly-minted Emmy winner Moss-Bachrach, meanwhile, will soon begin shooting Season 3 of The Bear.
