'Peng ting!': 'I'm A Celebrity' viewers delight at Harry Redknapp's street slang tutorial

Who knows what else he’s been occupying himself with since he stepped back from football management last year, but at least Harry Redknapp is now up to date on his street slang.

Viewers of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here delighted in a tutorial given by X Factor star Fleur East and Hollyoaks actor Malique Thompson-Dwyer.

In a fireside chat with the pair, 71-year-old Redknapp acquainted himself with the concept of ‘grinding’, which he said he’d introduce to his wife once he’s back at home.

“It’s one of them when you develop a friendship with someone and you come from different backgrounds you tend to pick up on their slang and their language,” explained Malique.

Harry was then introduced to the phrase ‘peng ting’ by Fleur, as a compliment to his beloved wife, which was then integrated into a rap.

Twitter exploded accordingly.

The former Spurs and Portsmouth manager has melted viewers’ hearts on the show with his remarks about his wife, who he’s been married to for 51 years and he met when he was just 17.

“I love her too much and it scares me,” he told his camp-mates. “If anything happened it would kill me.

“I could never wait to see her, we’re great friends. My son Jamie always says: ‘You won the lottery’ and he’s right.”
