People living in a Cambridge neighbourhood say they are "living in fear" as a result of antisocial behaviour by neighbours. Barnwell locals said they have been threatened and shouted at, with the police called to the area on multiple occasions.

One resident, who wanted to remain anonymous, said he believed the culprits had also been involved in stealing bikes and mopeds. In a doorbell video seen by CambridgeshireLive, one of the people involved in the antisocial behaviour said they were "the biggest bike thieves in Cambridge".

Other doorbell footage shows the culprits shouting verbal abuse and giving the middle finger. The anonymous resident said: "We have been through hell. We've just got pure abuse, screaming in front of our house."

He said the people involved in antisocial behaviour had threatened to smash their windows, shouted at his partner, and scared his daughter so badly she was afraid to go to school. He said many nearby residents are also affected.

A spokesperson for Cambridge City Council said: "We take reports of anti-social behaviour (ASB) seriously and are focused on safeguarding the community. We have acted on reports of ASB and installed re-deployable CCTV in the area to monitor the ASB and protect the community.

"We are working closely with the police and local partners to manage the ongoing impact of the behaviours and strive to deliver a service to our community that is inclusive and solution focused. In the meantime, we also continue to engage with residents who have voiced their concerns, and we are offering support to all those involved."

"It's just making everyone's life hell," he said. He praised the council's response as being helpful and said he was keeping a diary of incidents to track the behaviour.

Another Barnwell resident said the antisocial behaviour was "causing havoc". They added: "It's not fair that people should have to live like this and live in fear of being abused and threatened every time they walk out their front door."

A police spokesperson said: "Over the past couple of weeks we have received reports of anti-social behaviour in the area of Ditton Fields. Neighbourhood officers in the city are working with residents and partners to address the concerns and issues raised.

"Two temporary cameras are also currently installed on Ditton Fields and Wadloes Road as part of the problem solving. We urge members of the public to continue reporting information and incidents to us via www.cambs.police.uk."

The council spokesperson said anyone experiencing antisocial behaviour should report it to the council by calling 01223 457950, reporting online or emailing asbsection@cambridge.gov.uk. They added that victims or witnesses of crimes should call 999 in an emergency or 101 in a non-emergency.
