Pep Guardiola's FA Cup vow will be music to Newcastle United ears despite boozy City celebrations

Pep Guardiola insists Manchester City will be ready for this weekend's FA Cup final with Manchester United despite his players enjoying 'two or three' days of celebrations after winning the Premier League for the fourth consecutive year.

City beat West Ham United on the final day of the season to pip Arsenal to the title, with Guardiola's players enjoying a boozy party in the centre of Manchester on Sunday night to celebrate. Jack Grealish and some of his City co-stars were snapped leaving their blowout at 5am looking a tad worse for wear.

If Manchester United beat their closest rivals this weekend, Erik ten Hag's side will earn a Europa League spot for next season and subsequently knock Chelsea into the Europa Conference League and leave Newcastle United out of Europe altogether.

Guardiola, however, is going all out for the win as he seeks to become the first manager to win a back-to-back Premier League and FA Cup double, thanks to Gary Lineker informing him of the unclaimed record.

"I start to think about no-one has done four in a row, why don't we try?" he said after Sunday's Premier League finale. "And now I feel it's done, so what next? FA Cup. Gary Lineker told me that no team has done back to back Premier Leagues and FA Cups.

"What I want is for my players is to enjoy two or three days and then we have two days to prepare the final but right now I don't know what exactly the motivation is to do it [next season] because it's difficult to find it when everything is done.

"But knowing the players and myself I know that when we are there we will say why should we not win today? Why should we not work as much as possible to do what we have to do? And I know we are going to do it."
