Peter Andre has shared his insights on Giovanni Pernice amidst the recent controversies surrounding the Strictly Come Dancing star.

Giovanni, 33, is at the heart of a scandal involving alleged misconduct during his time on the BBC dance show. He faces potential legal challenges from three former Strictly partners and an internal investigation by BBC executives, though he has refuted any claims of "abusive or threatening behaviour".

The professional dancer was teamed with actress Amanda Abbington in the 2023 series, who withdrew early for medical reasons and later disclosed what she called a PTSD diagnosis. Peter Andre, known for his hit 'Mysterious Girl', has now spoken out amid rumours that Giovanni has departed Strictly after a nine-year stint, reports the Mirror.

"When I was on Strictly, he was lovely to me and we got on very well," he commented in OK! Magazine. "Whenever we bump into each other it's always great. I never saw anything untoward. But in situations like this, we never really know what's going on and I can only talk about my experiences with people."

Peter participated in the BBC dance competition in 2015, partnered with Janette Manrara, exiting in week 10 in seventh place. Notably, Giovanni also joined Strictly in the same year, partnering with actress Georgia May Foote and finishing as runners-up.

Reports suggest that Giovanni has resigned from Strictly Come Dancing following a nine-year stint, after his name was missing from this year's roster of professional dancers in a leaked internal memo. Addressing the controversy, Giovanni issued a statement saying: "To my dear fans, you will be as surprised as I am that allegations have been made about my dance teaching methods in the media this week. Of course, I reject any suggestion of abusive or threatening behaviour, and I look forward to clearing my name.

"Those who have followed my journey on Strictly Come Dancing over the last decade will know that I am passionate and competitive. No-one is more ambitious for my dance partners than me. I have always striven to help them be the very best dancers they can be. This has always come from a place of love and wanting to win - for me and my dance partners. Thank you all once again for your continued love and support! Giovanni."

Giovanni has been receiving substantial support from fans and, during the weekend, his prior celebrity partner Debbie McGee demonstrated her backing. After a social media post from Giovanni requesting fans to cast their votes for him and Anton Du Beke at the National Television Awards where they're nominated for their travel series, Debbie, who partnered with Giovanni in 2017, responded: "On it", accompanied by a heart emoticon.

Upon the allegations' initial surfacing, Debbie firmly made her stance clear. She put up a throwback image of herself dancing with Giovanni, accompanying it with the caption: "Happy memories, Giovanni and I had the best of times on Strictly."

Giovanni didn't waste any time expressing his gratitude for the shoutout, replying "Love you ... thank you" in the comments.
