Yahoo News Peter Kay cancels all 100 dates of first tour in eight years
Peter Kay has taken to social media to announce the cancellation of all present and future projects.
In a statement the Phoenix Nights star tweeted to his 700,000 followers, he revealed ALL upcoming projects – including his tour – were to be canned due to ‘unforeseen family circumstances’.
‘I deeply regret that I am having to cancel all of my upcoming work projects,’ Kay, 44, wrote.
Kay had intended to do 100 live shows in major cities such as Manchester, Liverpool, Nottingham, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Belfast, and Dublin.
Lasting almost a year, Kay had intended to open in Birmingham on 21 April, 2018 and finish up in Liverpool on 19 March, 2019.
The news includes the cancellation of the anticipated Dance for Life and his other live commitments and television shows in the pipeline.

‘The decision has not been taken lightly and I’m sure you’ll understand my family must always come first.
I’ve always endeavoured to protect my family’s privacy from the media. I hope that the media and the public will continue to respect our privacy at this time. Once again, I’m very sorry.’
Fans and professionals alike were clearly gutted about the news, but appreciated how his family comes first and respected Kay’s decision.

In the case of his Dance for Live, which is a Cancer Research UK charity event, he gives fans the option at the bottom of his statement to donate their ticket costs to the organisation, if they wished.
It would have been his first stand-up tour since 2010’s The Tour That Doesn’t Tour Tour… Now On Tour, which broke the Guinness World Record as the biggest selling one ever, attracting 1.2 million people to his shows.
Kay has made a recent comeback with the hugely popular Car Share and revealed he was desperate to get back on the stage doing stand-up.
‘I really miss it. I know how lucky I am to be making television series and have really loved these past few years working on Car Share but I miss doing stand-up,’ he said back in November.
